Previously, he was a senior engineer at the Institute for Technical Education and University Didactics (TUHH), worked as a research assistant at the TU Hamburg and as a senior expert at GTZ GmbH. After training as a journeyman carpenter, Prof. Dr. Klaffke studied wood and plastics technology and computer science to become a teacher for vocational schools.
